Start of the fairplay action weeks "TOGETHER AGAINST HATRED AND INCITEMENT"
Join in!
Already last weekend, the Viennese amateur club FC Polska started. At the start of the fairplay action weeks, the ÖFB national team players set a sign in a photo session against hate & hatred and for diversity in soccer. Next weekend, actions will take place at the home matches of the men's teams of FK Austria Wien, TSV Hartberg, LASK, Wolfsberger AC, Grazer AK as well as at the women's teams of First Vienna FC and SKV Altenmarkt/Triesting. In the amateur sector, the clubs FC Union Raiffeisen Sillian-Heinfels, ASK Erlaa Torpedo 03 girls, ATSV Kohlgrube/Wolfsegg and the youth section of SCW Lanzenkirchen will be active.
More than 60 clubs and initiatives in Austria have already registered with the fairplay initiative and are working together to combat hate and hatred and promote a diverse and open society. From the action week banner on the website or the banner on match day to the social media post and your own event: clubs, initiatives, fans and players from all over Austria are called upon to participate with small and large actions and thus set an example. All materials are provided free of charge by fairplay.
Markus Pinter, coordinator of the fairplay action weeks:
"Misanthropic ideas are directed against individuals and groups that are devalued. Sport in particular has the potential to create space for common ground, to bring people together and to make their diversity visible. We must not give any room to anti-human ideas, hatred and agitation, neither on the soccer field nor in the stands or outside the stadium. We are therefore delighted that so many clubs from the men's and women's national leagues and the amateur and youth sectors have signed up again this year and will be making their mark together over the next three weeks."
Everyone is called upon to stand up for a diverse and open soccer culture in which everyone feels welcome despite their differences and no one has to be afraid of discrimination and exclusion.
Training for clubs on the prevention of extremism
fairplay also offers training sessions for clubs in which topics relating to anti-human ideas in sport are discussed briefly and specifically. The aim is to empower clubs to take a clear stance and stand up for open and inclusive soccer. The extended offer is coordinated by fairplay prevention. The demand for the training courses was so great that the quota has been exhausted for the time being!
Background
The fairplay action weeks always have a focus for two years: in 2022 and 2023, we will be dedicating ourselves to the fight against extremism in sport. The activities are coordinated by fairplay. The ÖFB and the Austrian Football League support the campaign, and it is made possible by the City of Vienna - Bewegung findet Stadt, the Austrian Ministry of Sport and the European Commission (Erasmus+).
On our website you can find all campaign material as well as action proposals.
