fairplay action weeks
The Europe-wide Action Weeks for Diversity in Football have taken place annually in October since 2001. Clubs, fans, initiatives and athletes are called upon to campaign against sexism, racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism and for an open football culture and to make their commitment visible.
Originally, it was fan groups that campaigned for a football culture free of discrimination. In the meantime, all major players in football are active. The activities are initiated by the FARE network (Football Against Racism in Europe).
In Austria, fairplay organises and coordinates a range of awareness-raising activities within the framework of the action weeks. fairplay is supported by the Ministry of Sport, the European Commission, UEFA and the FARE office in London. The Austrian Football League and the Austrian Football Association are cooperation partners.
Every year, fairplay focuses on different aspects of the fight against all forms of discrimination - in October 2017, for example, the motto was "I am against racism", and in 2018 and 2019, Austrian football will jointly take a stand against homophobia.
