SPIN Refugees - New Support Grant Scheme for Refugees

The SPIN refugee project co-finances training courses for refugees to gain qualifications in sport.

Sport has proven to be an invaluable tool to enhance integration into society. Since 2020, the EU-funded project “Sport Inclusion for Refugees across Europe” (SPIN Refugees) is working towards improving social inclusion and participation of refugees and asylum seekers in sport through training, education and capacity-building on a local level.

As part of the SPIN Refugees project, we are launching a grant scheme to support individuals who are undergoing a training or education to become coaches, referees, volunteers, managers et cetera.
The Support Grant Scheme is designed to co-fund training courses that can support individual refugees and asylum seekers seeking qualification in the field of sport. The Support Grant Scheme intends to contribute to more equal opportunity in the sport sector. A grant up to 500 € can be provided to individuals based on a simple application procedure. The selection is carried out by the SPIN Refugees partner organisations in the nine project countries.

A variety of sport-related courses which increase the qualification of refugees or asylum seekers in the field of sport including coaching or referee courses can be supported. The scheme is not designed to substitute training measures that are already funded under other programmes.
